Point808.com can tailor most services to your need. The services
listed here are only a subset of what is available. We can install
these services wherever you need them -- on your domain and server
from another provider, or we can host it on your Point808.com hosting
account.either from Point808, or most other ISP's or
hosting providers of your choice. We can also install and maintain
specialized solutions for your industry, whether it be robotics control
systems, medical record-keeping applications, point-of-sale
applications, etc.

We can install this open-source software on your server, our server
under your hosted domain, or provide a personalized section of our main
gallery installation.
XMPP/Jabber Messaging
We currently run a public XMPP/Jabber server on our point808.com
domain. User accounts can be created via any
XMPP-capable client, or via our web-based sign-up page. We are able
to provide this software free thanks to
software provider Openfire.
If you would like our assistance in setting up an intranet or
internet-based instant messaging solution for your company or
organization, this is the software we recommend.
Software Repository
There are many options to choose from. Our primary software
library/repository is a simple ftp/http accessible server, with full
ftp upload access. We can also set up access via CVS, SVN, and any
number of other popular repository applications.
Web Hosting
Our initial venture was into the web hosting business. We
started out with simple web design, and then began to host our own
services, rather than resell mainstream ISP services. This allows us to
have much tighter control on security and functionality. We base our
hosting infrastructure out of brand-name provider's data centers, and
take over locally from the redundancy they provide. Our servers are
built on Dell technology, running minimal Linux distributions with VMWare's
server application on top. We then add a layer of virtual servers on
top to spread out performance and redundancy across multiple physical
servers.
We offer multiple services with our hosting packages, including PHP4/5,
MySQL,
Perl,
Apache2,
Postfix/Courier
mail, full-featured webmail client, an enterprise-class
groupware portal, and a multi-tiered dedicated control
panel.
Virtual Private Servers
Thanks to VMWare,
we now have the ability to offer virtual private servers for those who
insist on maintaining control from the server level, as opposed to the
application level. VPS guest servers may be pre-installed
with Microsoft, Linux, or PPC variants.
Other
Other services offered and hosting by Point808 include CMS/CRM systems,
network file storage, Exchange, Sharepoint, SQL, NX and/or terminal
services, etc. We can install many different custom solutions depending
on your needs.
